The event was co-organised with the Thematic Working Group on Internal Migration and Urbanization (IM&U) of the Global Knowledge Partnership on Migration and Development (KNOMAD).

The conference examined the internal movement of people and urbanisation through four main themes: drivers of internal migration; effects of internal migration on poverty reduction, income and gender inequality, rural transformation and agricultural productivity; interconnection between internal and international migration; and internal migration data.

Other Migrating out of Poverty participants included core partners ACMS and CMS, in addition to Consortium Advisory Group Chair, Dilip Ratha.
